My role includes several areas including clinical education, pre and post registration students, commissioned and non-commissioned students, quality and safety training, continuing professional development and safeguarding. Sarah Van Der Merwe - Head of Apprenticeships

I have over 20 years’ experience in leadership and management and 10 years’ in work based learning. My management career began, as an Operations Manager on RCCL cruise liners. Being a three striped officer managing up to sixteen staff members all from different countries and with different backgrounds - it really helped me to understand the importance of team dynamics, emotional intelligence and communication. I’m truly passionate about apprenticeships and the benefits they bring to both individuals wanting to develop their career and for businesses wanting to build an upskilled workforce. My intention is to offer high quality health and care apprenticeship programmes that support individuals to adapt and manage change in a positive way and give them new skills, knowledge and opportunities in their specific subject areas.

My aspiration is to empower people within the care sector to feel confident to take accountability to challenge ourselves and others as leaders.

Anne McAngus - Business Development Lead

My focus since 2015 has been business development – looking out for training opportunities across the health sector. I have always believed that being open to learning and education in whatever form it may take, can only empower us however small, and by being open to this will return many doors of opportunity. Since working in TLE I have taken the opportunity to become a qualified assessor and trainer in Business Administration, Customer Service and Type Coach, and really enjoy teaching and mentoring.
