Introduction

The Business Administrator apprenticeship provides a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, which can be gained working across an organisation and its processes. The apprenticeship provides a firm grounding in organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment.

The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills.

The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills.

The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making, and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration

12 - 18 months

Assessed virtually

This qualification consists of 7 mandatory units covering knowledge and skills competencies, with optional specialisms which can be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.

The mandatory units include (but are not limited to):

  • Principles of business administration
  • Managing performance
  • Project management
  • ICT for business
  • Your organisation

 

Optional units include (but are not limited to):

  • Legal administration
  • Medical administration
  • Social media for business
  • Marketing and sales

As well as the on-programme assessment there will be an End Point Assessment which will be carried out by an external independent assessor. This will include: 

  • Knowledge test
  • Portfolio interview
  • Project presentation

 

Throughout your qualification your Assessor will support you by carrying mock interviews as well as observations, professional discussions and 1:1’s to ensure you are ready for the End Point Assessment.

Level 3 Team Leader

The team leader/ supervisor apprenticeship is ideally suited for colleagues taking their first step into line management, or those with some experience of managing a team or project.
