Team Leader

Introduction

The team leader/ supervisor apprenticeship is ideally suited for colleagues taking their first step into line management, or those with some experience of managing a team or project.

Over an 13-month period you will focus on building the skills and knowledge you need to be an effective leader, as well as have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in leadership and management.

You will be doing the ILM level 3 Diploma for Managers and on successful completion, you may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, to support your professional career development and progression.

This qualification covers a range of topics such as:

  • Decision making
  • Project management
  • Finance
  • Leading people
  • Managing people
  • Building relationships
  • Communication
  • Self-awareness

As well as the on-programme assessment there will be an End Point Assessment which will be carried out by an external independent assessor. This will include: 

  • Multiple choice and short answer test
  • Competency based interview
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Presentation
  • Professional discussion

Level 5 Operational Manager 

An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages a team and/or projects, and achieves operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of their organisational strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner.
