Developing the skills needed for coaching
This course focuses on the benefits of adopting a coaching style of leadership and management conversations in order to get the best out of colleagues, and goes through some of the skills needed to be successful. NB this course is not about becoming a trained coach; it’s about adding skills to your management toolbox so you can identify how and when you might use a ‘coaching style’ of leadership effectively

Aims:

To gain an understanding of what comprises a coaching style of leadership conversation

Outcomes:

  • To be able to reflect on why and when adopting a coaching style would be appropriate
  • To learn about the five core coaching skills and behaviours: – Building rapport – Authentic listening skills – Importance of silence – Summarising – Effective questions
